The second European conference on wood modification will take place in Göttingen, Germany on October 6-7.
Organised by the Institute of Wood Biology and Wood Technology at Georg-August-University, Göttingen, the conference will see around 60 international speakers presenting their research from the fields of treatment procedures, material testing, test methodology, process development and marketing of modified wood.
The application of new modification procedures such as acetylation, heat treatment and wood cross-linking improves several material properties such as durability, swelling-shrinking behaviour and strength. This allows new areas of application for wood to be developed, improving the competitiveness of wood versus other materials such as metal and plastic.
