The Ashden Awards are recognised as one of the most prestigious eco-awards and include Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Schools and Energy Business Award categories.

“All the finalists were selected because they stand out as inspiring examples of how providing local sustainable energy solutions to reduce global carbon emissions can also reap tremendous social and economic rewards for local communities,” said Sarah Butler-Sloss, founder of the Ashden Awards.

“We believe these projects are excellent examples of doing just that and deserve to be highlighted and used to inspire others.”

Wood Energy is a provider of biomass solutions to the UK and Ireland, ranging from low power stoves to industrial boilers and is one of eight UK firms nominated in the awards, along with Seaton Primary School, Cumbria Energy Efficiency Centre and Nottinghamshire county council, which has embarked on a scheme to heat its schools with wood pellets instead of coal.
