TP Wood Recycling said it will reuse 80% of all the wood it collects. “More than 10 million tonnes of timber waste is generated in the UK each year, but only 10% of it is recycled,” said chief executive Nic Marshall.

Material received at its Rotherham depot is sorted into long lengths, sheets or components such as doors that are sold back to the community or donated to charity. Timber is used to make items such as bird boxes, shelves, sheds or compost bins, while the remainder is chopped up for fire wood, and some is sent for chipboard production or composting.

The company’s dedicated pickup vehicle can collect up to 14 cubic yards.

Operations manager Richard Bland said: “We know that more and more companies are becoming increasingly aware of their environmental obligations. We believe we can save them cash by cutting their disposal costs.”

TP Trading is supported by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
