The Wood Window Alliance (WWA), a new campaign movement to promote is the benefits and uses of timber windows, is gearing up for action.

A soft launch, which took place at BRE in Watford ahead of a hard launch in the autumn, saw representatives from companies such as George Barnsdale & Sons, Mumford & Wood, Boyland Joinery, Howarth Timber Windows, Jeld-Wen, SCA Timber, wood for good and the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) come together to give their backing to the alliance.

“Our mission is to increase timber’s share of the UK window market by communicating the facts about modern timber windows,” said Nick Quinn from Scottish window manufacturer Blairs Ltd.

“We are working together to create a generic and measurable campaign which will focus on 21st century timber windows and just how they fit into today’s aspirations for sustainable and durable products.”

The WWA, with the slogan “Wood. At the Heart of a Good Window”, has 34 founder members from across the timber window industry including manufacturers, installers, coatings companies and UK-wide trade organisations.

The BWF, which is co-ordinating the WWA, has said that a consumer drive is to come in 2008 that will target the home interest and improvement markets.
