Managed by the Portsmouth Housing Association and converted 20 years ago from a former pub, the building now provides four self-contained dwellings.

Mumford & Wood Ltd‘s double-glazed timber sliding sash windows were specified by the Association for approval by Portsmoth City Council’s Conservation and Design team.

Replacing the original single-glazed windows with new double-glazed units that meet the requirements of Part L Building Regulations is said to have “significantly improved” the building’s performance while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.

“The styling of our products is based on historically-researched moulded sections, making them totally suitable for sensitive renovations of this type,” said Chris Wood, sales director of Mumford & Wood.

“It’s the subtle, shallow lines of these mouldings that create the delicate slender effect of traditional profiles making them virtually indistinguisable from originals.”

The project used a combination of small and large pane Georgian sliding sashes, some with centre bars and semi-circular fixed lights, as well as semi-circular sliders.
