A third of enquiries received by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) following its nationwide series of free seminars are from the timber sector.
Ten of the 30 companies that contacted WRAP after the seminars, held in Belfast, North Wales, Leeds, Glasgow and Bristol, either already run wood recycling operations or are considering doing so. The seminars were designed to educate people about WRAP’s business development service, recycling fund and eQuip – the residual value guarantee scheme.
More companies are expected to ask for help in developing their business plans and investment proposals in the new year.
WRAP described the response as “very encouraging” and said to date its business development service had advised around 800 firms and conducted more than 100 business appraisals.
e-Quip, due for introduction in early 2004, aims to increase access to operating leases by offering guaranteed residual values on recycling plant and equipment on a competitive basis.
