The Wood Window Alliance (WWA) is to work with Defra and the BRE to ensure the benefits of wood windows are recognised in future housing policy.
It will look to promote the thermal efficiencies, sustainability and durability of timber products, including ensuring the BRE’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) “accurately represents the benefits of timber windows”.
LCA is included in the BRE Green Guide, which is due to be published in the spring, with WWA stating that its 2008 campaign would be “set against the backdrop of the publication”.
“The campaign has real momentum and will continue to drive new business to its members through strong, distinctive marketing, as well as actively representing them in the forum where policy and standards are determined,” said Ruth Oloyede, the new campaign manager for WWA.
