The guide, aimed at exporters and importers, was developed following a project designed to achieve compliance with the EU’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade programme, plus the EU Timber Regulation.
WWF has also devised a strategy document as part of Voluntary Partnership Agreement negotiations in Ivory Coast. The conservation group said the sourcing guide represented only the first step in securing legality compliance of timber from Ghana and Liberia.
