Matthieu Lombard has won the latest timber engineering student prize sponsored by the Scottish Timber Trade Association.
Mr Lombard’s dissertation “Structural behaviour of nailed and screwed plasterboard to timber joists” won the prize for the best performance in a timber-related Masters dissertation.
Edinburgh Napier University Centre for Timber Engineering student Mr Lombard said courses at the university had sparked his imagination to use timber as a serious structural material.
“It has a versatility, not to mention sustainability, that I never even considered in the early part of my engineering education and I am determined to stay with timber engineering as a long-term career,” he said.
