A Finnish timber garden furniture producer has secured PEFC chain of custody certification purely to back up its heavy sales to the UK market, according to the Finnish Forest Association.
Harmonia-Kaluste, which exports 80% of its production to the UK under the Pepe Garden Furniture brand, needed the environmental certification for its agent to sell products at exhibitions.
The pressure-treated products are made from Finnish softwood sourced from Versowood, which was already PEFC-certified.
The company said the certification process was straightforward and was mostly a matter of good management and paperwork in order to keep track of certified wood.
