James Latham has been able to move administration staff into sales roles following the successful introduction of new business software at eight of its 11 sites.

The company chose Runcorn-based Progressive Solutions‘ bisTrack software, designed specifically for merchanting operations, to replace its old system and take on cash and credit sales, stock control, pricing and discount management for delivered and direct sales from multiple locations.

David Dunmow, James Latham’s group financial director, said the ability to raise quotes and purchase orders had reduced administration, while savings were being made using the new interbranch transfer systems.

He said bisTrack’s purchasing feature had integrated with the existing nominal ledger.

Mr Dunmow said: “Overall, the implementation of bisTrack has been a good opportunity to look at our business processes and I feel we are now a stronger business because of the experience.”

The remaining three Latham sites will go live by the end of February.
