23 November 2018

The Rougier Group has entered into negotiations to sell its French import and distribution arm Rougier Sylvaco Panels to the Malvaux Group.

The move is part of Rougier’s refocusing on its forestry production activities in Africa. Following the consultation of the employee representative bodies, this operation is conditional on the signing of the final agreements scheduled before the end of 2018.

The Malvaux Group, is a leading French manufacturer of fine-grain panels and technical plywood and is on course to achieve a €62m in 2018.

The combination of Malvaux and Rougier Sylvaco Panels will enable them to strengthen their presence in the distribution of plywood and wood products for a large clientele of specialized traders and manufacturers operating in a wide variety of fields.

In addition to a rich and wide range of products, Rougier Sylvaco Panneaux will bring to the Malvaux group a recognized technical and commercial expertise, a permanent stock of more than 30,000m3 and a complete logistics infrastructure with three strategic depots in Caen, Paris and Sète.

After having reinforced its development division with the takeovers of Navi line, ST bois, Amoris, Barbeau and Griffon in 2017, the Malvaux group reinforces its position as industrial leader and distributor of plywood and decorative panels with this new announcement.

Closing of the transaction is expected by the end of 2018, after obtaining the required regulatory approvals.
