The seventh World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE) will be held in Malaysia between August 12-15.

A total of 200 papers from more than 40 countries have been accepted for the Shah Alam conference, which this year introduces excellence awards for engineers, architects and postgraduate research students.

Eight keynote speakers will deliver papers covering the future directions of timber engineering research, engineered wood, performance of timber in fire, applications in offshore structures, innovative large timber buildings and future possibilities of timber engineering education.

The conference is organised jointly by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
