In response to questions on the issue from customers and suppliers, W Howard’s group managing director, Graham Williams, has written to customers to reassure them that, whatever the outcome after March 29, W Howard will continue to supply its full range of MDF profiles to timber and builders’ merchants across the country.
In the letter, Mr Williams said “in the event of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit and the subsequent introduction of World Trade Organisation tariffs on imports, we have continuity of supply guaranteed into our three manufacturing plants that would not be impacted negatively.
“Our purchasing policy for many years has been to source locally or nationally wherever possible and, as such, our exposure to delays in imports and potential associated tariffs is extremely limited.
“That said, we are acutely aware of the dangers of complacency and to that end have assurances from our suppliers regarding their supply chains.
“Of course, we will be keeping a very close eye on the outcomes of parliamentary votes and will be looking to adjust plans as and when required.”
