Taylor Lane sponsored the employee’s participation in the two-year course with the pair working at head office four days per week with a fifth day at Gloucestershire College.
The HTQ is designed for technical and professional careers in the construction industry. It provides a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills and includes modules such as Construction Management and Modern Methods of Construction. Taylor Lane selected this course to develop Ms Strike’s and Mr Webb’s critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
“We provide timber frame training in-house and the HTQ complements this,” said Liam Hale construction director at Taylor Lane Timber Frame.
“It helps our trainees to understand the trades they will be working with and appreciate the wider construction industry, which is key to their development as timber frame professionals. More specifically, they have a better understanding of where timber frame sits in the build sequence, how it works with other building components, and how it impacts other trades.
“We are extremely proud of Charlotte and David and congratulate them on their achievements. In gaining the HTQ in Construction and Built Environment, which is an industry respected qualification, they have a solid foundation from which to build their career in timber frame construction.”
Since completing the course and meeting other business criteria, the two employees have advanced to full-time roles: Ms Strike as a contracts manager and Mr Webb as a timber frame designer. Both are busy managing their own projects working on private and affordable housing schemes for national and regional housebuilders.
