Nicklin Transit Packaging has reinforced its position in the timber, carboard and corrugated packaging solutions sector by acquiring Geddes Packaging.
Aldridge-based Geddes Packaging, which employs around 40 people, will become part of The Nicklin Group of Companies, creating a stronger and more resilient business with enhanced manufacturing capacity, and greater reach across the Midlands and beyond.
Based in Wednesbury, Nicklin Transit Packaging is a fourth-generation family business employing 130 people and working with a wide range of major manufacturers and businesses across many sectors, including industrial, engineering, aerospace, automotive, construction and logistics companies.
Geddes Packaging has a strong reputation in timber and corrugated packaging, making the acquisition a natural fit for Nicklin as it continues to develop its services and support a growing customer base.
“As an independent business, we are proud to be growing at a time when the packaging sector continues to experience significant consolidation,” said David Nicklin, Managing Director of Nicklin Transit Packaging.
“Our focus has always been on building long-term relationships with customers, investing in our capabilities and providing a responsive, high-quality service. This acquisition strengthens all of those areas.”
The move will increase Nicklin’s market share in the timber and corrugated packaging market, while bringing additional manufacturing and sales expertise into the combined business.
The acquisition forms part of the century-old company’s wider growth trajectory, having relocated to Wednesbury from Birmingham due to the HS2 development eight years ago.
