The 2026 Roofscape Design Awards has showcased its most diverse range of entries yet.

The Trussed Rafter Association’s (TRA) Roofscape Design Awards, which took place on April 23, celebrate the year’s best trussed rafter and metal web projects, with a record number of entries in all categories, showcasing a stunning and varied spectrum of roof designs.

“It’s inspiring to see TRA members innovating this year, taking on increasingly complex projects while maintaining such high standards,” said Nick Boulton, Chief Executive of the TRA.

“The awards shine a spotlight on the possibilities of trussed rafters to create imaginative roofscapes. They also celebrate the extraordinary people and teams behind them.”

Winners:

• Commercial Project of the Year

Winner: North Walls Cricket Pavilion, designed by Triad Timber Components Limited

Triad designed and installed a truss rafter and glulam feature truss roof for the Winchester Cricket Pavilion at North Walls Recreation Ground. The structure is highly distinctive, featuring a notable arrowhead-shaped footprint.

• Conversion and Refurbishment Project of the Year

Winner: Dalnarrow Cottage, designed by Pasquill

An old derelict croft building was reworked into a new beautiful home that successfully retains all the original building’s character.  Close collaboration with the clients resulted in a clean and simple full-length Girder Truss.

• Residential Project of the Year

Winner: Waterside PH, designed by Donaldson Timber Engineering

“It truly pays to put in the early work,” recalls James Tothill of Donaldson. “For what looks a relatively simple roof on plan, the moment we tried to use any standard detail we ran into a challenge to be solved.”
