"The UK may not always be the biggest European market for US hardwoods, but in terms of consistency, value and potential it is one of the most important, so if there’s anywhere we should support timber promotion, it’s here," said AHEC European director David Venables.

He said he was particularly impressed with Wood for Good’s ‘Growing Communities’ project, to increase interest in the use of timber in the built environment.

"We are also impressed with the new LCA database, to which AHEC also contributed its extensive LCA work," said Mr Venables.

"This will be a significant new platform for the industry to really start communicating its key messages."

AHEC, he added, would also represent the "hardwood perspective" within the Wood for Good campaign.

"We’re looking forward to being involved," he said.
