Universal Packing Specialists has added a fourth Standard Striebig model to its factory to cut plywood, Tri-Wall corrugated board, foam and polystyrene.

The company needed extra cutting capacity at its Colnbrook facility to meet an increase in business and to provide added production flexibility.

The TRK2 5224 saw supplied by TM Machinery Sales Ltd is the second one of that specification to go into service with Universal, which also has a Standard II and a 23-year-old machine bought in 1991. The latter is now used solely for cutting sheets of polystyrene.

Universal general manager Mark Davis reported that the oldest Striebig had suffered only one problem – a broken bearing – since installation more than 20 years ago.

Universal, which serves freight companies which do not have their own production facilities, packs everything from heavy machinery to fine art and also caters for hazardous goods.
