The air-injected loose wood fibre Steicozell has been in demand, according to Steico UK managing director Andy Moore.

"We’re just doing the first installation for a residential development in Inverness for CARBONlite Design & Build," said Mr Moore.

"We’re also getting training organised for Steicozell installers and we’ve had enquiries from other timber engineering companies looking to put it in their own timber cassettes."

Mr Moore also reported that a major retailer was interested in stocking the light, rigid Steicotop insulation for attic floors, which it intended selling as loft packs.

"A chipboard floor tends to crush insulation, but put this on top and it’s suitable for light footfall."

It wasn’t all about insulation, however, as Steico was also exhibiting its weather-resistant floor decking, glulam, LVL and I-joist products.

Included in the latter category was the Steicotradejoist, which was developed specifically for the merchant trade last year.

"Buildbase is stocking them and it’s going well," said Mr Moore. "We have all the marketing material behind it, including a video which is being shown at merchants so builders can see how the Steicotradejoist works."

Steico’s verdict on the show was that it was smaller than before but with better quality visitors. "There have been more architects, fewer students and overall better discussions and interest than last year," said Mr Moore.
