London-based American artist Karen D’Amico turned to Kenyon Performance Adhesives Division when she was trying to source a hot-melt adhesive to create works of art.
Ms D’Amico uses adhesive to make three-dimensional webs which are then photographed using a variety of backgrounds and materials.
She had been using a simple glue gun to make “strings” of adhesive to create the webs, but found it limiting and unreliable, and contacted Kenyons after visiting its website.
She subsequently visited the company at Oldham where the Tec 6300 hot-melt adhesive spray gun with Tec-bond 232 clear hot-melt adhesive was demonstrated.
A clear EVA adhesive was used through a spray unit to produce the perfect pattern that was inert on impact and Ms D’Amico said the technology opened up totally new possibilities for her work.
Meanwhile, Kenyons has become an official distributor of Henkel Industrial Adhesives and will be working with the company to promote packaging, labelling, product assembly and woodworking products.
