Border Joinery has eliminated a bottleneck in its sanding and finishing operations by investing about £14,000 in Boere machinery.

The company, a division of Carlisle-based Border Construction Group, previously did all sanding and finishing work by hand because it could not find a machine to cope with the variety of work.

Its recently-installed Boere Sandrite 1100C wide-belt sander, supplied by Calderbrook Woodworking Machinery, is used on all products, including single workpieces or semi-assembled items like window sashes, for in-house Border Construction contracts and external orders.

The Sandrite 1100C features belt lengths of 1110x1900mm, a working width of 1100m and height of 150mm. The contact roller is a 70-shore hardness, while feed speed is infinitely variable from 4-15m/min.

Border Joinery’s machine is fitted with a 300mm roller infeed table and a 700mm outfeed table.
