German sawmiller Pollmeier wasn’t at W6 specifically to sell, but said it made some “interesting new contacts”.
The company has been building its UK business for some time and has a number of key stockists. “We believe we’re now quite a well-known name here,” said the company’s Susanne Engelhardt. “It’s a good market for us. Our UK customers are interested in good quality.”
The aim of being at the show, she added, was to renew acquaintances and make initial contacts with potential new clients.
“We met a range of people for the first time, notably joinery companies, both large and small operations,” said Ms Engelhardt.
The big stack of beech on the stand also flagged up the launch of its latest UK advertising campaign underlining what it calls the timber’s “chameleon properties”. Targeting architects, specifiers and end users, the advertising focuses on the company’s range of beech finishes.
