The British Woodworking Federation has produced a new guide highlighting the importance of consulting employees on health and safety.
The Guide No 20 details why consultation is necessary and the benefits that result for employees and employers. It covers new employee induction, the use of safety committees, safety representatives and the use of suggestion boxes and “toolbox talks”.
Another new leaflet, Guide 21, advises on monitoring employees’ health and safety as an aid to managing work related ill health generally and devising and implementing safety measures specific to a particular woodworking activity or workplace.
