Canada had the largest single international presence at Interbuild, highlighting the importance of the UK market to the country, according to trade commissioner Jason Kee.
Around 30 Canadian companies and organisations were at Interbuild, with the Canada Pavilion including Hamill Creek Timber Homes, Canada Wood, Québec Wood Export Council and the British Columbia Shake & Shingle Association.
“There has been an excellent reaction to Canadian companies here at Interbuild,” said Mr Kee. “[The number of firms] is indicative of how Canada is treating the UK market.”
He said the presence of Canadian companies at the show was not about creating “brand Canada recognition” but helping to spread news of products and developments, as well as “spurring us on to innovate”.
Mr Kee also said that it was “gratifying to see how wood and wood products have taken a large share of the structural market”, with timber having a noticeable presence throughout the show.
