The Derby-based company has greatly reduced the amount of work it subcontracted out since it began running an AXYZ Automation 4008 router. New work includes luggage racks for the railway.

Owner Michael Pepper said: “We have been supplying a lot of floor panels, fire doors and headboards and the CNC router has been used in all of these projects.”

The company has been able to design products on CAD before machining on the Toolpath CAM software on the 4008.

“My son, Josh, is highly skilled using the PC and has taken over this side of the business, but I attend college and I am doing a course on Autocad,” Mr Pepper said.

“I am very optimistic about our future and I am even considering purchasing a second building for the machine so we have a separate business unit. If the business grows as I hope, another machine will be installed very soon.”
