Danish company System TM has installed a cross-cut line at Pearson Packages Ltd of Boston, Lincolnshire.

Pearson, which makes potato boxes and supplies sawn timber to the trade, has made a ‘considerable investment’ in the system to handle and stack timber automatically around a moulding machine and cross-cut saw.

The custom-made design allows Pearson to choose between two production set-ups: automated infeed to the moulder, cross-cutting and automatic stacking; and automated infeed to the moulder and stacking.

Projects manager Andy Pearson said company representatives attended the pre-delivery testing in Denmark. He added: ‘The quality of the build of the machine is first class and very good engineering design has gone into the project.’

The investment is expected to increase the cost-efficiency and flexibility of the company dramatically.
