Italian tools manufacturer Cruing has set up a UK sales and support operation for its range of polycrystalline diamond tooling.

The cutting tools, previously sold through distributor the Unimerco Group, will now be available through Cheshire-based joint venture company Cruing (UK) Ltd.

Cruing, which says its sales are growing by 18% per year, has also set up joint ventures in Spain and Canada.

The UK operation is headed by directors Trevor Barnes and Keith Bailey, both previously sales engineers at Unimerco.

Mr Barnes said: “Cruing tools are recognised by the industry as being amongst the most productive in the world. However, the name is not very well known in the UK despite being used by many manufacturers, as they have never been sold under their own name before.”

Cruing’s range includes tools for panel sizing machines, edge banders, CNC machining centres and post-forming operations.

The company will display its products, including the new R type radius tipped diamond hogger for panel squaring, at this year’s Woodmex.
