The joint venture has seen the two firms open the first Durante Dynea Adhesive Company Limited manufacturing plant in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone close to Shanghai.

According to Dynea and Durante & Vivan, the launch of the Asian operation is in response to the growing demand for furniture and flat panel wood products in the region.

As such, the Chinese Adhesive Association has predicted that the market for adhesives will grow by 11.5% between 2005-2010, with the demand for hot melt resins growing at a fast rate.

It will also allow both firms to develop a foothold in the Asia Pacific region and better serve customers in the area, according to Dynea president Roger Carlstedt.
