Sawmiller and merchant Gilmour & Aitken Ltd has taken delivery of a Manitou Maniscopic MVT 675 vehicle for handling large logs in its Alexandria storage yard.
It is the fourth Manitou machine to be operated by the 150-year-old company, the others being the MC40FC, MA 470 and MCE30H forklifts.
The Maniscopic, supplied by Chapelhall-based Manitou dealer AT Best Handler, has a maximum load capacity of 7,500kg and moves logs onto the conveyor belt for processing in the sawmill.
About 90% of timber handled on the 14.5-acre site is tropical hardwood, while the remaining 10% is beech, oak and fir.
