GMD-Giardina has developed a method of curing lacquers using microwave technology.
Giardina claims its MOS system is able to penetrate lacquer film at a very high speed and the energy source is able to be instantly switched on or off.
It says previous problems of applying microwave technology in the panel industry included the inability to ensure uniform three-dimensional distribution and the difficulty of making the radiation discriminate the lacquer film from the substrate.
Giardina developed the MOS operation by identifying selected frequency spectrums by working outwards from a central point using opposite electrical circuits. This allows the system to work by emitting continuous range frequencies.
