The company’s investment of more than £1m in Weinig machinery between 2004-2006 has led to growth, particularly in short run, bespoke hardwood business.

“It has opened our eyes to the increased number of orders we could process in a day,” said Arnold Laver operations director Mark Hay. “It’s been dramatic.”

Investment at the company’s Manningham Sawmills has included two Powermat moulders, automated handling lines with stackers, Dimter OptiCut crosscut saws, a Raimann MultiRip saw and toolroom equipment.

Lavers said the Raimann has proved especially beneficial on hardwoods, transforming the ripping process.

Mr Hay said the Raimann’s benefits included higher accuracy, less over-sizing, increased yield, straighter timber, faster throughput and quick set-up with laser.
