A love of wood has no limits for French timber wholesaler Bernard Roth, 64, the former chairman of Edgar Roth SA.
To celebrate his company’s 100th anniversary in 1995 he climbed the Aconcagua, at 7,000m America’s highest peak, carrying a placard saying ‘J’aime la bois’ – ‘I love wood’.
And he still takes part in mountain marathon races and mountain climbing, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned ‘le bois avance’ – ‘wood advances’.
