For US-based engineered wood products manufacturer Louisiana-Pacific (LP) it was SmartSide prefinished cladding that was new on the block.
Being launched on May 1 in the UK, the product, made from engineered wood with an additional surface layer to convey an authentic wood grain, is available in either normal cladding profiles or as sheets.
The product, which has a 10-year guarantee on the finish, is made at LP in Wisconsin and finished in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a competitor to prefinished solid wood cladding but will be priced at a higher level.
LP already offered pre-primed SmartSide cladding, so the new addition completes the range.
Elsewhere on the LP stand, the 225i LP I-joist was shown in a masonry construction, demonstrating that builders can have an off-the-shelf engineered wood joist designed to meet traditional masonry construction.
