Former chairman and financial director of Forest Fencing Ltd (now Forest Garden), George Poyner recently paid a visit to Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE. Awarded in last year’s Queen’s birthday honours, the accolade was in recognition of his services to his community in the Shropshire village of Hopton Wafers.
Mr Poyner retired from Forest Fencing three years ago at the age of 80, after more than 43 years in the timber trade.
