It is the Troon company’s third machine from Strappex and follows the addition of a new stacker. The latest strapper is in use about 80 hours a week and has been handling 150 packs a day.

Once timber has been stacked, the pack enters the machine where the bearers are automatically inserted and lengths of 12mm PET strap are applied. The strap is automatically tensioned, sealed and cut, and the pack conveyed to despatch.

Adam Wilson & Sons converts softwood logs into sawn timber for timber merchants, builders’ merchants and pallet manufacturers across the UK. Annual output is 150,000m3.

“We have recently further automated our production here and needed our strapping capacity to keep pace with that,” said a spokesperson. “We are able to vary the number of straps and bearers applied depending on the length of the pack.”
