An AXYZ “Millennium” CNC router has given Malvern-based Joy Toys the freedom to do what it wants when it wants.

The company, which makes traditional wooden toys such as dolls houses and farmyards, had used conventional hand tools for smaller jobs and subcontractors for bigger orders.

However, Joy Toys found it had to fit in with when it was convenient for subcontractors to do the work and costs were beginning to soar.

It recognised the need to invest in its own CNC router to enable it to do all the machining on-site, but was initially put off by the programming involved. The training package offered by AXYZ soon allayed those fears and operators were quickly competent at using the associated software.

Since installing the AXYZ CNC router, Joy Toys has altered the design of its dollshouses, making them more elaborate. Company owner Ted Hall said: “The “Millennium” has given us the freedom to design our products more creatively. We now have the ability to do, what we want when we want to do it.”

Prices for the AXYZ’s CNC routers start at £14,800 and an extensive range of options is available.
