One of the 49,000 runners taking part in the Great North Run recently was North Yorkshire Timber‘s managing director Peter Kershaw. He was been generously sponsored by staff, family, customers and suppliers and has so far raised around £1,000 to be split equally between Martin House hospice for children in Wetherby and St Michael‚s Hospice in Harrogate.
“This was the first time I’d taken part in the Great North Run and it was a fantastic experience,” Mr Kershaw who finished the 13-mile course from Newcastle to South Shields in a respectable 2 hours 45 minutes.
“I’ve been running since January, in the last few months covering 10-mile distances. Nothing prepared me for the atmosphere, the vast scale of the event, or the last three, mainly uphill, miles.”
