Handling and finishing equipment that dramatically reduces manual lifting is on display at JJ Smith‘s Liverpool showrooms.

Italian manufacturer Omga has developed a series of machines to rationalise and organise assembly and handling operations in the manufacture of timber windows.

As well as speeding up several different processes, it eliminates the need for operators to lift and handle the frames – an increasingly important point for many companies in relation to Health and Safety Executive safe working practices.

Dave Moore of JJ Smith said: “Omga’s philosophy when designing the various items of equipment was to make the finishing and handling line better balanced in order to minimise the amount of time the window frames remain in the factory and to prevent unproductive and unnecessary moving of frames and sashes during the different assembly phases.

“Also there is the requirement for the fitting of the hardware and the cutting of the glazing bead to be more efficient, along with handling and storage of the finished items.”
