Palgrave Brown has commissioned a replacement £230,000 painting line for its Silktrim pre-primed range of moisture-resistant MDF mouldings.
The line, installed by Universal Finishing Systems at Palgrave Brown’s Brinscall headquarters, is designed to offer environmental advantages and greater efficiency than an older Universal line introduced when Silktrim was launched in 1993.
The new installation features several machines, including a 10-head PRO-SAND profile sanding machine, a SUPA-VAC vacuum coating machine for applying paint to all four sides in one pass and a MAXI-DRY Gas IR dryer, which dries high solid water-based coatings at speeds of up to 80m/min.
A further double line from Universal was installed in 2001.
