TTJ senior reporter Stephen Powney beat the builders at their own game with a surprise win in Simpson Strong-Tie’s (SS-T) speed trial competition at Interbuild.
Steve won SS-T’s daily competition on the show Monday by fixing 22 screws into a wood-based panel in just 17.76sec using the company’s new QuikDrive auto feed screw driving system. His prize was his own QuikDrive, an attachment which fits onto a standard screw gun.
“I told them I was competitive but it was a shock to record the fastest time,” said Steve.
