Sandvik Materials Technology has developed a new steel in response to growing demand for mobile bandsaws.

Available in any width and in standard thicknesses of 0.90mm and 1.07mm, the steel is based on the metallurgy and processing of Sandvik Multishift saw steel and is designed to offer higher fatigue resistance and longer life.

The Swedish manufacturer has also carried out extensive trials on steel strip over 1mm thick, which it claims improves the uniformity and finish quality of its woodband saw products.

It says straightness has been improved by slitting techniques for narrow woodband saw strip up to 1mm thick, making it possible to guarantee a precision product with a specified tolerance of 0.25mm per metre instead of the previous 0.5mm.
