SCA Timber (UK) Ltd has invested £100,000 on improvements at its Warrington-based door casings and linings facility.

The line, one of the few units of its type in the UK, produces eight doorsets per minute but waste handling needed to be improved for it to achieve maximum potential.

New waste recovery equipment has been installed and SCA managing director Rob Simpson said: “This single improvement will further add to our competitiveness. If all goes according to plan we are looking at the prospect of instituting a second shift pattern on the line early in 2003 to fulfil market demand.”

Maintenance has also been undertaken on SCA’s 23H dedicated planing line as part of the investment programme.

Waste shavings from SCA’s Warrington site are sold to the racehorse breeding sector while solid woodwaste is collected from the site for recycling.
