Stamco Timber has paid tribute to its president and founder Kathleen Shepperdson, who has died.

Mrs Shepperdson, who started the East Sussex-based company in 1957, took a keen interest in the business right up to the time of her death on October 30.

A spokesperson for Stamco said: “She would have been proud of the company’s recent achievements, particularly the recognition through the Community Mark of Stamco’s involvement in the community, which was very much based on her own and her husband’s values of supporting and giving something back to the local community.”

Mrs Shepperdson was also president of St Leonards Football Club, originally a works team for Stamco Timber more than 30 years ago.
