The centrepiece of the Stenner display was the brand new PK series of quad horizontal resaws for producing hardwood flooring.
Developed to cater to the rapidly growing flooring sector’s need to increase production while maintaining quality, the PK range – represented at Ligna by the PK20 – features a precision feed mechanism, an ultra high straining system for a narrow kerf and touch-screen-plc control.
The machine was developed in close co-operation with Sandvik which made the advanced 80mm blade. Running at capacity, according to Stenner, it could produce up to 1,000m[three] of flooring a day.
‘We’ve already sold the first saw to America and expect to confirm an order from Indonesia at the show,’ said marketing manager Syd Mather. ‘We also anticipate keen interest in Germany and Scandinavia, among other markets.’
Traditionally, he added, the flooring industry has used frame saws.
‘The quad horizontal saw is more productive than a frame and gives a much better finish and smaller kerf than a circular saw. All the boards need after sawing is a light sanding.’
