“TIMCON is playing a fundamental role in helping the HSE communicate vital and potentially life-saving information to the industry,” said senior HSE inspector Alan Scobbie at TIMCON’s AGM.

Mr Scobbie was giving a talk on current health and safety issues in the woodworking industry.

He said more than 70% of industry accidents were attributable to incorrect manual handling and poor use of machinery. These were avoidable if companies invested in specialist lifting equipment and appropriate training, he added.
