Just-in-time manufacture is the driving development force at timber and panel-processing equipment specialist Friulmac. It was apparent in all its latest launches.
Centre-stage was the new Randomat Multirex end-matching machine.
“Globally we’re finding our customers want a machine that’s quicker and more flexible to enable them to operate leaner, at a faster turnaround rate and to undertake short runs,” said Friulmac US general manager Joe Hammock.
“The Multirex can handle random or fixed length components for the window, furniture and flooring sector, and including panel products as well as solid wood,” he said. “And it can change over from one dimension and profile to another in just three seconds, giving the operator an almost continuous run on entirely different products.”
Other launches on the stand included the Quadramat-FL profiler for lengthwise flooring processing, capable of processing 26 pieces per minute, and the furniture-sector-targeted Contouramat Plus working centre which undertakes double end-cutting, top and end drilling.
“Customers are looking for higher speed and productivity at little or no extra cost,” said Mr Hammock. “It’s all about lean production. That’s what we preach as a business and that’s what we offer in our machinery.”
