It’s that time of the year, when the TTJ Awards is gearing up to start its annual voting process again.

Who could forget last year’s memorable 2021 TTJ Awards, when around 250 people attended the first major physical timber industry event to return after the easing of pandemic restrictions. Host Jason Mohammad led guests in an impromptu sing-along to some popular hits, resulting in a exuberant occasion.

The TTJ film crew will be present again to capture the whole event, which will be live-streamed again to a broader digital audience.

Online voting across eight product categories will give timber buyers the chance to rate their suppliers for customer service and product quality, with the overall winner being crowned TTJ Timber Trader of the Year.

Voting (and judged entries) open on April 6 on the TTJ Awards website: https://awards-ttj.ttjonline.com.

This year’s event itself will be held at the InterContinental London Park Lane, on Friday, September 30.

The lunchtime (11.30am-4pm) annual timber industry awards event in the heart of London will be the 26th TTJ Awards and will be another opportunity for the sawmilling, importing, manufacturing, distribution, merchanting and structural timber/joinery industries to come together to celebrate their achievements and enjoy a day socialising and networking in the nation’s capital.

The InterContinental, in the heart of London’s Mayfair, is situated next to Hyde Park and Green Park and the Wellington Memorial. It has been used for functions such as the Wimbledon Champions Ball and in 2018 it hosted the TTJ Awards.

“The InterContinental is a great venue and has that special quality, which people enjoyed so much when we held the Awards there in 2018,” said Stephen Powney, TTJ group editor.

“It’s a fantastic five-star hotel in Mayfair which has hosted some fabulous events in the past and we are pleased to be returning there for the timber industry’s own awards celebration this year.”

The hotel sits on one of London’s most prestigious corners between Mayfair and Knightsbridge. It is situated on the site of 145 Piccadilly, the Queen’s former childhood residence.

An announcement on the event host and guest speaker, as well as further details will be made shortly.

Post-Awards drinks will be held at the hotel, followed by the customary gathering at the local pub – this time in nearby Shepherd Market.

Tables and individual tickets are on sale now – see contact details in the “further information” box.

Current sponsors include Timber Development UK, Combilift, Arxada (Tanalith), Hubtex, W Howard, Glennon Brothers, Structural Timber Association, West Fraser, ECC Timber Products and SCM.

ONLINE VOTING

Entries for the judged awards and the online voting process for the voted categories will open on April 6.

A digital voting campaign will run in the long-running Voted Categories, where companies can nominate their choice of Best in Class supplier across nine categories:

  • Panels Trader of the Year
  • Timber Merchant of the Year
  • Softwood Trader of the Year
  • Hardwood Trader of the Year
  • Structural Timber Systems Supplier of the Year
  • Joinery Product Supplier of the Year
  • Timber Garden Products Supplier of the Year
  • Small Timber Business of the Year
  • Timber Trader of the Year

Voting is open to customers who buy timber products right down the supply chain from builders, specifiers, joinery firms, furniture producers, other wood product manufacturers, structural timber fabricators, merchants, DIY retailers and distributors.

Voters have the additional opportunity of rating their supplier individually for delivery service, customer service, product quality and value for money.

Category winners are determined by the overall highest number of votes, while the overall Timber Trader of the Year award – won last year by Arnold Laver – also looks at how companies performed across multiple categories.

A voting button will go live on: https://awards-ttj.ttjonline.com on April 6. Timber suppliers are welcome to notify their customers of the voting link.

JUDGED ENTRIES

As well as the voted categories, our long-running judged categories are designed to reward companies and organisations for their achievements across multiple topic areas, including marketing, environmental achievement, manufacturing and career development (under 25 and over 25).

If you are a timber products company that wants to highlight your achievements in any of these areas, then get in touch with our events team now at: events@progressivemedia international.com

An entry form for the judged categories will go live on the TTJ Awards website in April.
