Gordon Callander has succeeded David Wood as president of the UK Forest Products Association.

Speaking at the annual meeting on Monday in Penrith, the managing director of Stirlingshire sawmiller and merchant James Callander & Son, said the focus of the association would remain on practical issues that affect the UK forest products business.

Mr Callander assumed the role from Dr David Wood, of AW Jenkinson Forest Products, of Penrith. Tony Mitchell, of Tulloch Timber (Nairn), was appointed vice-president and Gavin Davidson of Iggesund Forestry UK, was made junior vice-president.

Principal guest at the meeting was Luke Ellis, of E.On UK, who gave a presentation on the development and commissioning of the new £90m wood-fired power plant nearing completion at Lockerbie.
