Chris Wood, sales and marketing director with timber window manufacturer Mumford & Wood Ltd, is one of 20 senior executives to win the AXA-sponsored SME Masterclass Award run in conjunction with The Mail on Sunday.

Winners receive a place on a three-day masterclass, worth £10,000, in France. Entrants had to identify three barriers to their company’s business growth and were challenged to analyse their own leadership style, outlining how they might change to drive the company forward.

“These are exciting times for Mumford & Wood, and for me personally,” said Mr Wood, son of one of the company’s founders. “The company is undergoing a complete re-evaluation of its manufacturing and trading systems because we had outgrown the original operating model. We know where we need to be and we know we face some challenges.”
